~~Bed & Breakfast-ing in the Texas Bluebonnets~~
One of the joys of living in Texas is seeing a field of blue in the springtime! My mom, my sister, & I just had a lovely "girls" weekend away to see the Bluebonnets which were breathtaking this year. The recent rains brought them to their peak & instead of a few patches here & there like some years ~ we had fields & fields of blue, some with the red Indian Paintbrush mixed in, some with Red Poppies ~ gorgeous! We stayed at a wonderful old Bed & Breakfast which was a house built in 1883 & for 3 days we drove the Bluebonnet Trails, went to the Bluebonnet Festival, & just enjoyed being together. A very special weekend & the most Beautiful Bluebonnets I've ever seen!

My husband just got his first taste of the bluebonnets this weekend- he's a California boy, working in Texas for a few weeks- he called me excitedly "Now I know what you were talking about! Will they grow at home?"
Kathy, the bluebonnets are just beautiful! I saw a B&B featured in one of my deco magazines that was all about bluebonnets. It was an old farmhouse out in the middle of nowhere but was surrounded by bluebonnets and it looked like it'd be wonderful to stay there. I'm a real B&B fan! Love them!
We travelled from San Antonio to Houston in 2004 and I thought the country side was very very pretty....not what I expected. I would have loved to have seen all that blue.....amazingly beautiful.
those are gorgeous!!! a weekend away sounds like loads of FUN =) debbei
Kathy,
I found your blog when I was reading Arlene's blog(Lil Cottage Shoppe on MakeMinePink.com)this morning. Your blog is just lovely! Your post about the Texas bluebonnets really took me back. I lived in Laredo, Texas, for about five years and one of the nicest memories I have of South Texas is the fields of bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush. I was driving back home to Oklahoma one time and say a man photographing his little daughter out in a field of bluebonnets and thought what a beautiful memory he was making.
Warm regards!
